Fante

Every winter I read Post Office by Bukowski and Salinger's Catcher and The Rye around Christmas, but today I decided that every Summer I'm going to re-read Ask the Dust by John Fante-partly for some motivation to get writing again and partly for, well just those other reasons. If you haven't read this book you should. It's the work that made Bukowski who he was and how he wrote. Booze and writing tend to go hand in hand I guess for most authors, which usually leaves no room for "true love" - thus a shitty downward spiraling life with great works of literature. Anyways, the movie is typical in the sense that it is no where half as good as the novel-but still worth seeing if you are too lazy to read. Cheers
